Launceston

Touch down in Launceston and begin your Tasmanian escape in one of the island’s most charming cities. After collecting your car, head straight to your hotel before stretching your legs at Cataract Gorge, a natural wonder just minutes from the centre. This lush river gorge blends wild landscapes with Victorian gardens, walking trails and panoramic viewpoints, perfect for a gentle introduction to Tasmania’s natural beauty.

On your second day, venture north into the rolling hills of the Tamar Valley. Known for its cool-climate viticulture, this region is home to over 30 boutique wineries producing exceptional Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.

Days 1 - 2

Enjoy a self-guided tasting trail through picturesque cellar doors, pausing for long vineyard lunches and postcard-perfect countryside views.

Freycinet National Park

Your journey continues east to the coast, where the rugged beauty of Freycinet National Park awaits. Settle in at Coles Bay and wake each morning to panoramic views of the Hazards: a striking range of pink-hued granite mountains that frame this coastal wilderness.

Here, the pace slows. Hike to the famous lookout over Wineglass Bay or explore hidden coves and walking trails that wind through fragrant bushland. Take a cruise across the sapphire waters of Great Oyster Bay or paddle a kayak along the shore, keeping an eye out for dolphins and sea eagles.

Days 3-4

With two nights to explore, there’s plenty of time to strike your own balance between adventure and stillness.

Hobart

Your final drive leads south to Hobart, a city that wears its history proudly while embracing a bold, contemporary edge. Once a penal colony, Hobart is now home to a thriving arts scene, lively harbourfront and an exciting culinary identity.

Visit Salamanca Place, where historic sandstone warehouses now house galleries, boutiques and cafés. If your visit falls on a Saturday, browse the renowned Salamanca Market for artisan crafts, fresh produce and gourmet delights. For a dose of high-impact culture, MONA (the Museum of Old and New Art) offers a provocative, world-class exhibition experience unlike any other.

Days 5-6

Spend your last night soaking up the city’s relaxed sophistication, before returning your rental car at the airport on your final morning.
